6:21 pm - Countdown to 30 (365 Days togo)
I celebrated my 29th birthday along with Shant on Thursday.
We went to Carmines on Lancaster Avenue.  It was a good time supplemented with alcohol and decedent food.

1:03 am - Home semi-sweet Home
After spending a week in LA I have come to the following conclusions.

1. Real estate is over priced
2. Humidity (or lack there of) does make a difference
3. In and Out burger is NOT over rated.

Someone described LA as a city that is vapid.
And they may be correct. But the weather is sublime, the food is awesome and the gays are plentiful.
Thanks to some very special people my week in LA was fantastic. And considering I didn't have a car (or hotel room) that says a lot.

I look forward to my return, and since Southwest was so kind as to give me a voucher for the incident in vegas. That may come sooner rather than later.

6:13 am - Sheryl Crow wasn't kidding
Okay. So I've begun another mis-adventure.

Today (Or yesterday actually) I was suppose to board a flight heading to Los Angeles.

I'm amused by the fact that every time I take a trip I'm rushing to the airport only to find that my plane is delayed. I'm certain (based on the irony of life) that if I didn't rush to the airport, my plane would be right on time.

The flight was 90 minutes delayed and then we sat on the tarmac for 2 hours. 5 hours later I'm in Vegas. Well the vegas airport that is. I did play the slot machines. And I have the benefit of spanish soap operas playing on the television. I've cruised the bathroom three times. (really i just had to piss. There is nothing going on here at 3 am.

Kudos to the Vegas airport for offering free internet. (and maybe timely departures).

12:55 pm - Look at him go...
Call me crazy, but I decided to sign up for a half marathon.
http://www.njmarathon.org/

I didn't realize that a marathon was a set 26 miles.
I know that a 5k was 5 kilometers, and that a 10k was 10 kilometers.  But unless there was a number attached with the marathons name I didn't realize it defaulted to 26 miles.

I'll post updates, i have just over 6 months to train for this.

Ohh and I was brimming with such enthusiasm about this venture, that I inspired my friend Shant to sign up with me.
I'm sure I'll be cursed at later. :)

7:33 am - Feminist don't have a sense of humor.
Some background music for your listening pleasure.

So last night I learned that my aunt went back to her husband.

Background Story:

My aunt who is also my serrogate mother has been married since she was 18. To a man who has abused and controlled her life.
If I haven't painted him in a bad light yet, he's also a racist.   But I'm sure he would call himself a good ol' boy.  He actually was pretty decent in helping to raise me.  But as I grew older I was put off by his slurs.

There was also a bit of a falling out when I helped my aunt come to the conclusion that I'm queer. (For those of you who didn't already know, Mazal Tov) I was told not to come around the house any more (but they still loved me) because I gave her scabies.  Personally I think she got it from shopping at good will, but 3 years later it seems the scabies line was a lie or an excuse to keep me away.  I did learn that my uncle was busy promoting the fact that I was gay.  I appreciated his efforts, but I can't report any dates resulting from his advertising.

So my aunt at the age of 60 with a progressed case of Parkinson's disease has decided to leave her husband.  I was very proud of her.  Her husband was restricting her medication, mentally abusing her, and insisting she continue to cook and clean.  Mind you she's practically bound to a wheel chair.

In the style of Anne Frank my aunt and her sister escaped to a motel where they stayed the night.  The next day they proceeded to file a restraining order.  (Girls if you are burning your bras, hold onto that bic lighter).  My aunt ended up in a nursing home.  Where I was told she was happier and doing well.  Her sons and grandchildren were visiting her and my father (points to him for doing her laundry) and aunt also kept her company.  While none of us want to end up in a nursing home, her other option was living at home where her husband would laugh at her when she would fall.

Finale: So my aunt went back to her husband, her son checked her out.

I'm all for preservation of family values (despite my sin filled lifestyle) but learning that she went back made me sad.  Some good came from the over all experience though.  I'd like to say my father and I both appreciate our relationship a little more.

And a final applause to the son and family members who knew well enough to stay clear of this dramatic circle of events.  Clearly they knew the end result would be the same as the start.  But shame on them for not having hope.

5:25 pm - Bears in the woods X 2
So last weekend I drove up to Ricketts Glenn State Park.  The first night it poured and the second night it dropped to 35 degrees.  Call me a sissy, call me a wimp, I was freezing my ass off.  I went with Shant and his co-workers so it was a straight crowd.  They kept talking about the bear warnings.  At some point the conversation turned to being raped by a bear. I had side bar conversations going on in my mind the entire weekend.  Despite the weather the park is really a beautiful place and the people we went with were very good company.  Did you know its illegal to take alcohol into a state park?  I didn't. :)

So this weekend I went to The Woods.  Thanks to an invite from my newly acquainted friends Phil and MIke.  They are really awesome guys and treated me too well. I basically showed up enjoyed the camping experience and left.  Reading that makes me sound like a mooch, but I did offer to help any where I could.  I event volunteered for light manual labor.  The woods was a very cool experience and I would like to go back.  Maybe spend a little more time at the club house and less time at the site.   I did run into David and Germann which was a pleasant expectation.  I always bump into them at the bear events.  And David always has a fantastic smile when I see him.  I really do appreciate people who enjoy life and express it well.

I did have an opportunity to become more familiar with Josh.  I had met him previously at a random chinese buffet, but actually got a chance to carry on a lengthy conversation with him on Saturday.  And a note to the guys with the slushi machine... "Yummy!!!!"

4:30 am - St. Patricks day without beer
This was a fun evening. Shant host a small dinner at his house. We had rock lobster tail (Let me know if the b-52s come to mind when I say this) and chicken kabobs. It was awesome. His friend Justin made up the recipe.

After dinner we sat around the table playing Phase 10 and talking. It was awesome. I totally slept my day away but in return I've stayed up until 4:30. I'm actually at shants house now about to head home.

6:14 am - Celebrating my birthday with the mouse
I turned 28 last week. I decided to plan a last minute trip to disney world with my friend Shannon. All in all it was a really good time. I was so exhausted by the end of it all. We spent most of the vacation running on limited sleep and were constantly walking. I need to invest in some birkenstocks.

Nothing out of the ordinary about the trip. I'm still a pussy and roller coasters scare me. I forgot this fact until the roller coast I was on went up side down. I didn't even bother with the tower of terror. I went on it once and the theatrics are awesome but that up down up down bull shit is madness.

I haven't wrote anything about my previous trips so I'll mention them here.

Kansas / Missouri was a lot of fun. Thanks to Brian for showing me around. Kansas city surprised me the the architecture down town was Spanish influenced. Not sure what i was expecting but clay tiles was not it.

Chicago wasn't so great. I've learned my lesson. I will not go north in the middle of winter. It was soooo cold. And Tony, my friend out there has a small addiction problem. To something some of us know as WOW. (World of warcraft). You know we all have our vices so I am not one to judge. My ADD prevents me from being addicted to video games. A blessing, a curse. who knows?

My next trip is Detroit. I'm going for the resurrection of Christ (Easter). It should be fun, Patryk and Jamie are offering to host me. Well see how that turns out.

Work... work is work. Its insanely busy. People have described me as "always down to earth", "calm during stressful times", "always laid back". Apparently I'm the Zen master at work. I really have no idea what these people are smoking. If you talk to my old boss and my new boss they would have conflicting descriptions. I'm enjoying the change of perception though.

Well my alarm is going to go off in less than 60 seconds. Off to work.

current mood: blank

3:03 am - Shant and Gary's excellent mis-adventures
My evening as I prepare to go to Columbus.
Our flight was scheduled for 8:40.

4:15
Leave work go shopping, get home, shower, pack, love the pussy.

6:02
Leave the house for shants. I'm running late (naturally) suppose to be at his house by 6:30. He lives 40 minutes away and with friday night traffic, i'm screwed.

6:20
XM radio (gotta love it) states that flights arriving in Philly are 220 minutes behind schedule. Shant checks online and our flight is delayed scheduled for 10:50. I'm running early (naturally).

7:00
Arrived at shants house. Plane is now scheduled for 11:05. We rescheduled the cab for 9pm and decide to do sushi before we head to the airport.

8:40
We arrive back home and check the status of our plane. It reads 9:35. (Fast pace theme music begins to play) The cab was early and picked us up at 8:50. (50 minutes till our plane leaves and we're just getting on the road)

9:00
The taxi driver is trying to get us to the airport in time. Shant and I think its hopeless, but southwest has advised that only the airport staff can assist in getting us onto a new flight. While in the cab I realize I don't have my liscense. (panic). We told the taxi to take us back to shants house. Its hopeless, we're done. We are relaxing.

9:30
Shant calls Southwest to find out if we can salvage our trip to columbus. It'll cost 150$ for us to catch the morning flight. Through the conversation we relaize the flight isn't scheduled until 11:05. (Fast paced theme music resumes)

We bolt from Shants house drive to my house. Zoom Zoom.

9:55
Dash into my house to grab my liscense. But I can't find it. UHG!!! FCK!!! SHT!!! After searching for about 10 minutes, I thought of my passport, grabbed it and back to the car.

10:30
speeding to the airport we made it with 30 minutes to spare. Actually we had an hour and 30 minutes to spare consider the plane was late and didn't take off till midnight.

midnight
take off

1:20 am
Touch down.

3:45 am
I'm in columbus.
In the hotel.

Good night.

12:11 am - Did you hear...Craigslist Experiment
For those of you who haven't already heard about the Craigslist Experiment.

Some guy decided to post a sex ad on Craigs List. The ad was fake, and advertised a girl who was into BDSM looking for guys to abuse her. Hot stuff!!! So then they posted everyones responses to encyclopedia dramatica. Google news points out legal implications, because face pics are included, and sometimes names, work email address, and phone numbers. Really all of the information posted was included in the response to the craigslist ad.

That's all interesting. But what I think its great is the fact that some girl has decided to read each response and include it in the encylopedia dramatica article. Here are some of my favorite sound bites. Beware!!! Don't listen to this in an environment where you want to be discreet.
